The rules are very simple to understand: Star Alliance elite cards will be matched to the same tier status - for example: Lufthansa's HON Circle, United's Premier Executive or US Airways's Chairman's Preferred, all Star Alliance Gold-equivalent, will be matched to BlueBird Gold Preferred.

Passengers whose elite cards were issued by non-Star Alliance airlines may also participate. oneworld loyalty cards will be matched the following way: Ruby status shall be considered equivalent to Star Alliance Silver (i.e., BlueBird Gold), whereas Sapphire and Emerald status will be matched to Star Alliance Gold (BlueBird Gold Preferred) during this offer. Likewise, at SkyTeam, SkyTeam Elite will be considered matchable to Star Alliance Silver, and SkyTeam Elite Plus, to Star Alliance Gold. 

Flyers whose preferred airlines do not belong to any alliance, e.g., Gol (Brazil), Etihad Airways, Emirates Airlines (United Arab Emirates), Malaysia Airlines (Malaysia) etc., can also request a tier status match. You will be sent an e-mail to which you shall reply with two .PNG, .JPG or .GIF images: one, a "print screen" from your account's main page at the airline you've selected; the other, a scan of your card, as your airline sent you over the post.

Your data will be analyzed and, in case all the information matches, you will receive another e-mail containing information you will have to use in order to attain the status you will be matched to. After confirming the request, your card will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks of completion of the process.
